Love the flange effect? The Ibanez AF2 guitar effects pedal contains both a traditional Taxi chorus flange and what has come to be known as the Take Off flange. Toggle the Airplane flanger from Taxi to Take Off and you'll be playing with Paul Gilbert's crazy flange sound that shifts the pitch up and down.

The Ibanez Paul Gilbert Signature AF2 Airplane Flanger packages two pedals in one rugged diecast metal case: a traditional chorus flange and a Taxi Take Off flange which provides guitarist Paul Gilbert's crazy flange sound, which includes shifting the pitch up and down. Controls include manual, speed, range and enhance for Taxi mode and a speed setting for Take Off mode. Includes AC power supply.

Flanging dates back from the era of open reel tape recorders. The same signal was recorded on two open reel recorders, then played back, summed together and recorded onto a third machine. The tape operator would touch one of the reel flanges, the flange being the rim of the reel, briefly slowing down one of the playing machines. The short timing differences between the two playback signals in the summed signal resulted in a sweeping comb filter effect that came to be known as flanging.
