The Korg D888 functions as a lightweight portable yet rugged 8 channel digital mixer with built-in effects and digital 44.1kHz 16-bit WAV format recorder to an internal 40GB hard drive. All eight tracks can be recorded or played back simultaneously, perfect for capturing live performances. Eight virtual tracks exist for each track, bringing the total track count to 64.
The Korg D888 is as easy to operate as a traditional analogue mixer, with each channel strip offering trim, 3-band EQ, plus effect send and pan controls via dedicated real-time knobs. The effect settings are memorized with each song. A 160 x 104 backlit LCD panel provides metering and other pertinent information. 8 balanced 1/4" TRS and XLR inputs are tied to high-quality mic preamps equipped with professional 24-bit A/D and D/A converters.
The D888 will find use as a live or location recorder for recording band rehearsals or gigs. The 8 balanced inputs, 2 monitor outs, 2 master outs, and 4 line outs combined with a built-in 40 GB hard drive allow the D888 to record on location without interfering with the PA systems house mix. The output section is also ideal for feeding into a cue mixer or a larger recording system. With eight-track simultaneous recording you can capture the performance with enough separation to allow overdubs or post processing.
Because the D888 uses the WAV recording format, high-speed USB 2.0 data transfer allows recordings to be easily transfered to a computer-based systems from the D888 for full editing and final mastering. The MIDI output transmits MIDI Time Code so other equipment can sync up to the D888. An optical digital S/PDIF output is also provided for direct digital transfers.
